The May 2010 CITA Newsletter is now available to view online. It can be read online by clicking on the members quick access link " CITA News "

CITA Working Groups are being reorganised under 5 new topics areas, each with a small number of sub-topics areas. The policy and best practice development activities for these topic areas will be coordinated under the Regional Advisory Group for Europe. A Policy Expert (PE) will be leading each topic area assisted by 1 or 2 Technical Experts (TE) for each sub-topic area. All CITA members will be able to contribute to CITA's work through these Working Groups.

Five topics areas together with their Policy Experts were approved by the CITA Bureau Permanent at its 132^nd meeting held on 17 March 2010.

The VOSA Effectiveness Report 2008/2009 is now available for downloading on our Statistics page.

VOSA provided statistics for 2007 – 2008 roadside inspection on heavy goods and large passenger vehicles in the UK tested according Directive 2000/30/EC. These statistics show some significant prohibition rates.

DGTren recently commenced work to upgrade Directives 96/96/EC and 2000/30/EC. Several DGTren Expert Group meetings are therefore scheduled to discuss the upgrade of  annexes II, which mainly involves changes to CITA Recommendations 1, 2, 5 & 11.

As meetings take place between now and May and participants are Member State Representatives and experts, several of which also participate in CITA meetings, it has been decided to postpone all Working Group meetings between now and June as follows:

• WG6: 27 – 28 April
• WG3: 14 – 15 May
• WG9: 19 – 20 May

It is possible that Working Groups will be consulted (by e-mail) on any issues put forward by DGTren.

The European Commission, Directorate-General for Energy and Transport, Directorate E-Inland Transport held a Technical Adaptation Committee - Roadworthiness Committee meeting on 24th February 2009 in respect of the upgrading of both Directives.

Every 18 months, CITA holds an International Conference prceded by a General Assembly.

The 2009 edition will take place during week 12-16 Oktober 2009 in Gothenburg, Sweden, and is kindly hosted by Bilprovningen.

• 14th CITA General Assembly : 13th October 2009

• 12th CITA International Conference:  13 - 15 October 2009
