The theme of the conference 'WIN/WIN Approaches for Periodical Technical and Roadside Vehicle Inspections' with about 40 speakers, was an ideal opportunity for about 250 delegates from 40 countries to exchange and discuss their latest technological, regulatory and economics views.
Representatives from the European Commission, 'Daniela LEVERATTO' and the United Nations World Forum for Harmonisation of Vehicle Regulations (UNECE WP 29 in Geneva) , 'Juan RAMOS GARCIA' confirmed the importance of CITA’s work and its worldwide legitimacy.
During this international conference, the CITA General Assembly elected a new president - Ricardo PUIGNOU from AECA-ITV in Spain - to succeed Ron OLIVER from VOSA in Great Britain - who was nominated Honorary President.
CITA’s growth in membership (today 106) confirms the international awareness for vehicles roadworthiness enforcement measures. As a result CITA decided to establish a new Regional Advisory Group for Central & South America in addition to those for Europe, Asia/Australasia and North America.
The strategic direction proposed by CITA Bureau Permanent was presented during the 13th conference and ratified by the conference delegates.
The principal outcome is as follows:
- Actions to develop procedures and systems for the integration of periodical technical vehicle inspections of electronics-based technologies for active and passive vehicle safety.
- Systems which are and will be used more and more in all types of vehicles
- Promote international harmonisation for technical vehicle roadworthiness enforcement and develop proposals to create the necessary instruments to achieve this.
Full details on the presentations are available under CITA Conferences.
